Things people on tumblr REALLY need to learn

  • Supporting one group does not mean you have to hate another group.
  • You don’t have to agree with someone 100% of the time to trust/be friends with them.
  • Someone having an opinion that is radically different than yours does not automatically make them a bad person.
  • You don’t nor shouldn’t have to stop being friends with someone just because the state an opinion/make a joke that you don’t like.
  • You don’t have to like everything about a person to be friends with them.
  • Apologies matter. If someone is truly sorry, accept it. Permanently breaking off a relationship/distrusting  someone who truly wants to make amends is foolish.
  • Having an opinion that you consider more “morally just” does not automatically make you the better. It not about your beliefs, it’s about how you express those beliefs.
  • Nobody is exempt from possibly being hurtful, racist, sexist, or just and all around terrible person. If someone’s truly being cruel, call them out on it no matter who they are and no matter who their being cruel to. Don’t make excuses for them just because their part of an “oppressed” group. 
  • Stop being ashamed if you’re not a person of color, disabled, a woman, or whatever. Being any of those does not make you a better person, their just simple details about a person. Stop acting like people who fit those categories are special just because.
  • People should judge you only by your actions, not by the actions of people who happen to have the same skin color, gender, etc. as you.
  • Hate is hate. If you generalize any group of people as bad just because of a few bad ones, you’re prejudice and a douche. No exceptions.
  • Having a tumblr does not make you smarter, cooler, more unique or more in touch with current events than anybody else. It’s just another social website, get over it.
